Material Name(s): Inositol, myo-inositol
Inositol (or myo-inositol) is a B-vitamin-like molecule often used to help regulate blood sugar, manage polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) and alleviate the symptoms of mood disorders such as low mood or anxiousness. Essentially, this helps hormones such as insulin and neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine work more effectively.
Inositol exists in nine possible stereoisomers: inositol lipids such as myo and d-chiro inositol. Further, there are inositol derivatives or inositol phosphates (IPs) and inositol hexakisphosphate (IP6 or InsP6 or phytic acid).
