Andrographis is indigenous to the plains of India. It is cultivated throughout Southeast Asia and in China. Used in traditional medicine to remove toxins, which makes it an effective treatment for infectious fever causing diseases. Studies performed over the last 15 years on this herb confirm its uses in upper respiratory infections, tonsillitis, laryngitis and pneumonia.
The pharmacological activities of andrographis extracts include immunostimulatory, antiviral and antibacterial, while andrographolide is esteemed with a broader range of pharmacological activity, including anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-diabetic, anti-malarial, anti-angiogenic, anti-tumor and liver protective activities.
