Early Days
Dr. Traj Nibber, Ph. D opened the doors to his compounding pharmacy in Smith’s Falls, Ontario in 1988, at a time when compounding pharmacies were rare. Not long after, he was approached by three practitioners of Nutritional Medicine who were ahead of their time in demanding “clean”, therapeutic grade nutritional supplements free of binders, fillers and unnecessary ingredients. These interactions sparked Dr Nibber’s curiosity about the world of nutrients as scientific agents of prevention and healing and would ultimately lead to a transformation into the way he approached medicine.
By 1991, Dr. Nibber’s reputation as an “alternative” compound therapist was established to the point that a group of AIDS patients sought his assistance in maximizing the quality and duration of their lives. For four years, he compounded medicines free of charge for these patients, further establishing his mission of improving the health of others, a mission that involved committed research and perseverance.
At the time, the foundations of the natural health industry lacked the kind of scientific rigour that Dr. Nibber demanded. So, in 1991, he founded his own company, based on the pioneering work of Linus Pauling, the Nobel Prize laureate who coined the term ‘orthomolecular’ and the adage embraced by AOR, “the right molecule in the right dose, at the right place at the right time.”

At AOR we keep our eye on the pulse of research and innovation of nutraceuticals for health problems impacting our consumers. Whether it’s scouring through journals, attending conferences, or reaching out to our vast network of research collaborators, we are confident in our ability to recognize a good thing when we see it!
We compile all the available evidence on vitamins, minerals, botanicals, amino acids or any number of other physiologically active molecules and corresponding health conditions.
What makes strong research:
- A large number of studies
- High quality studies, if many aren’t available: ie. Proper controls, reasonable sample size, limited bias.
- Finally, what do the findings and conclusions mean for the optimal formulation and delivery to consumers? Do the results let us believe in the safety and efficacy of the solution we are presenting?
Premium Ingredients
Once we understand the right form, dose, and delivery of ingredients based on available research, our team gets to work searching for the perfect supplier.
AOR has an extensive network of raw material suppliers who are required to provide complete information on the origin, extraction methods, processing, additives, sustainability and manufacturing compliance.
Finished product formulation
AOR manufactures in-house and does not use 3rd party contractors.
Meaning we have complete control of manufacturing and processing.
We ensure that we use clean ingredients in our manufacturing process. Limiting the use of unnecessary dyes, sweeteners, binding agents and more.
Submission to Health Canada
A Natural Product Number (NPN) is the product license issued by Health Canada. It verifies the potency and usage of the product’s ingredients.
Health Canada assesses products to be safe, effective, and of high quality.
Having a product with an NPN is a regulatory assurance that consumers are provided with adequate information to make an educated product choice in the natural product category.
