Published in 2022 this comprehensive review summarizes the most important data about the therapeutic actions of Chios mastiha and discusses future fields for its medical application. Chios mastiha was characterised by active molecules and composition. Mastic’s antibacterial efficacy could support its introduction as adjunct therapy in the management of various infectious diseases. In addition, there is now substantial evidence to suggest that mastiha demonstrates a plethora of favorable effects, mainly attributed to the anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties of its components.
